- 6 January 2000: A major overhaul of the Resources
section, as well as the usual new and updated bits in there.
Added David Anderson, Charles Cecil,
Alan Laird and Clive Parker to the
Where Is...? section, and updated
the entries for Stuart Campbell,
Jonathan Nash, Richard Naylor
and Dominic Robinson.
Added the TC 2048 and the TC 2068 to the Power Supplies section.
A huge number of back-end changes; this (hopefully) won't be too
obvious in the rendered HTML, but will make the FAQ much easier for me
to maintain :-)
Updated the information on
Hob, R80,
Sinclair Spectrum Emulator (Psion),
Spec128 (RISC OS),
UKV Spectrum Debugger,
x128 (DOS),
Yet Another Spectrum Emulator,
Z80Stealth,
ZX Emulator (DOS),
ZX Plus
and ZXSpectr,
and added the new DOS emulators Finspe,
RealSpectrum
and JASPE, the new Windows emulator
Speccyal, the new Amiga emulator
ASp and the very first Windows CE emulator
Sinclair Spectrum Emulator.
There are now (in some senses) 100 different Spectrum emulators available!
Mentioned the new binaries newsgroup in Question 2 and the Newsgroups section.
There is now a German mirror of the FAQ; thanks to Stephan Slabihoud for hosting this.
Mentioned xzx's Pentagon and Scorpion extensions to the .Z80 snapshot format.
Updated the Emulator Benchmarks and moved them to a separate page. Thanks here due to Samir Ribic.
Updated Question 19.
- 28 August 1999: Matthew Smith has returned!
The Spanish mirror
is back, and the Portuguese mirror has a new location
and a new maintainer (Pedro Gago). Thanks to Rui Ribeiro for looking
after the Portuguese mirror until now.
Added the new Windows emulators ZX and ZX Plus,
the DOS emulators SpectrEm-Dr, SP48
and Spec256, the Unix emulator Fuse,
the DOS and Linux
emulator Unnamed Spectrum Emulator, and updated the information on CBSpeccy,
SpecX, Z80Stealth,
Spectre, WinXZX,
SpectrEm, ZXSpectr,
Sinclair Spectrum Emulator,
Mac Spectacle, xzx
and (very belatedly) zx32.
Checked every e-mail address in the FAQ; this produced a fair amount
of Where Is...? information; just look for
the
and
flashes.
Mentioned the TR-DOS flag in the 128K .SNA format specification.
Added a whole load of (mostly Eastern European) FTP sites,
amongst the usual new and updated Resources.
Made the Essential Sites more
obvious by moving them to the top of their sections and adding an
flash.
Modified Question 2 to state that HTML posts are not allowed on comp.sys.sinclair.
Added the specification for .ITM and .PAN files to the File Formats section.
Added information on the 128K machine's power supply to the Power Supplies section.
Clarified the explanation of the CP.. instructions in the Undocumented Flags section.
Provided an explanation of the difference between the +2A and +2B machines in Question 14.
- 20 May 1999: Z80 and WinZ80
v4 have now been released (Hooray!) Also added SPM
,ZXSpectr, Spectre
and Z80Stealth (all DOS) and Spec128 (RISC OS),
and updated the information on xzx,
UKV Spectrum Debugger,
ZX-Spectrum Emulator 128K (DOS),
Hob, Spectrum128
(Amiga), CBSpeccy, R80
and Sinclair Spectrum Emulator (Psion).
Added information on the .IMG and .MGT
Disciple disk images to the File Formats
section; also mentioned the bug in xzx
which caused it to write .Z80 files
with a hardware field of '8'.
Changed the main page a bit as some people
are apparently missing the fact that zipped versions of the entire FAQ
are available, and also added the mirror of WoS as a place to download
the zipped versions.
Merged Questions 13, 14 and 20 into a new Question 13;
the rest of the information which was in the old questions is now in
the new Real Machines/Spare Parts
section of the Resources section or the
Keyboard Repair section.
Moved the Spectrum Profi Club's address from Question 15 of the
FAQs section to be with the rest of the
User Groups information.
Moved the pointers to the FAQs for other Sinclair machines from Question 1 to the start of the Resources section.
Updated Question 22.
Added information on the +2B to Question 14
and updated the +2A/+3 ROM information in Question 10,
as well as adding a pointer to my ROMs collection.
Split the Technical Information section into Z80 Tech Info, 48K Tech Info and 128K Tech Info.
Removed all the references to the Comic Sans MS font, as this was
causing problems with Netscape 4.x under Unix.
As always, more new and updated Resources,
including finding all the dead links in the FAQ. Added Borgar Waade's
Remakes to the list of Essential Sites.
Added Bill Witts to the Where Is...? section.
